I had someone at work recently ask me when was I going to "get over this fitness thing", and when was I going to be satisfied with how I look?
my simple answer? NEVER.
Now that I've found happiness in the gym I doubt that...no I know that...I will never stop. As long as there's a muscle that will move in my body, I will be craving and wanting to go to the gym. As a matter of fact, I have to fight the urge to go multiple times a day. Yeah. I'm addicted and I love it.
The gym is the great equalizer. In the outside world, other influences such as money, education, etc. distort things and make things unlevel and unfair......but in the gym.........weights are weights......40 lbs are 40 lbs no matter who is lifting it. The point is....LIFT IT. You may not be able to lift it correctly the first time or the 50th time you go in, but if you make these goals you can get there. It may be a slow or fast process, who knows? But you will get there.
if you lift weights and move more and eat less (within your goals of course), you will start to see changes in your body. You will start to see more womanly curves (if you are female) and you will see how your muscles respond to movement. It's an amazing thing. God has created beauty in the human body. Surely.
I'm tiny. I refuse to admit this publicly, but yes. I know this. I'm 5'0" on my best day & I've had to fight (sometimes physically) for any and everything I have in my life. I haven't had everything handed to me, and Lord knows things have been less than easy to come by.....but I can go into that gym & be by that little princess that's had everything and is prettier, and younger, and has a nicer car, etc. than I do and I can lift what she does and there you go...........the great equalizer. Weights. All of what she has means nothing in there if she doesn't lift it. She may not realize it, but she's in competition with me. And I'm gonna win. I'm the kind of girl that within 5 seconds of laying eyes on you, I'm trying to figure out if I can lift more than you per square inch. I say 'girl' but I feel that way about anyone. I want to know that I CAN or if I can't. If I can't today, then I will have victory later on........I will have victory.
I went to the gym recently, and someone was there was surprised that I was lifting this weight. They thought it would be too much for me......yeah. I got this. I can lift it. And I asked this guy to come lift it too. He laughed. He knows me well enough to know I like picking on him.lol.
I'm a fighter, I had to fight to live when I was born, I had to fight being sick as a kid, I had to fight an eating disorder, I had to fight about my kids, my rights, and I've had to fight for just about everything (as little as it is) that I have. I love stretching and trying.....going beyond my comfort zone because that's who I AM. That's what I do. I fight.
I realize there are different types of people in this world..Some people are happy with whatever comes there way.........They never think a second about their health, or what time is doing to their body. You can say I'm vain...that's okay.......but I don't ever want to be one of those people again. I don't ever want to be complacent again. I'm not happy with where I am now. I have goals, do you?
